Character Strong™

Character development is at the core of the Daystar Academy ethos. We have partnered with the world leading Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Character Development organization, CharacterStrong™

The CharacterStrong™ curriculum is delivered through our Advisory classes. The program curriculum is focused on fostering the Whole Child with vertically aligned lessons from Grades 6-10 that teach Social and Emotional Learning and Character education, side-by-side. These cover the development with an age appropriate focus on for each student:

·       Social and Emotional Competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision-Making

·       Character Development: Patience, Kindness, Honesty, Respect, Selflessness, Forgiveness, Commitment, Humility

Students are encouraged to apply their learning in the real world and then reflect, both individually and as a group on these opportunities. Themes and reflections are also regularly the focus of school assemblies.
