Our Story

History of Daystar

In 2002 the founders of Daystar Academy were faced with the task of raising their bicultural children in a bilingual environment. Through the example of a sister pre-school program, the role of language in advancing civilizations and
the desire to give back to the community, they opened a tiny one-room balanced bilingual elementary school with three students, two teachers, one administrator and one Ayi. After several tests, multiple revisions of the education model and the creation of an advisory board, Daystar Academy incorporated and began operating as an educational research institute. Daystar’s balanced bilingual education model has and will continue to advance through consultation with parents, education experts, teachers and students. In 2008, Daystar Academy opened as a licensed non-profit private Chinese school at it's permanent campus in Chaoyang District.

Daystar Today

Daystar currently enrolls 210 students represented by 17 nationalities from Kindergarten to Grade Six (18 months - 12 years old). At capacity, Daystar will have a total of 320 students which represents four kindergarten classes and two classes of 20 students per grade in Grade 1- Grade 6.  This size will allow Daystar to sustain an environment where each student is well known while providing ample opportunity for socialization.
