Accessing Global Information

RoboticsFor the majority of human history, information was scarce and held by a privileged few. Education, not surprisingly, was created around the idea that a teacher had the information and the student did not. Today, information is so abundant and quick changing that it cannot be monopolized. Traditional schools often treat the teacher as the sole source of knowledge. We believe the teacher's role is to be an expert guide and coach for the students as they explore, collect, analyze, and report information. Technology, especially, the Internet, makes researching topics completely different from traditional approaches. There is often no simple or standard answer to a question. Access to the information from other sources may provide entirely new perspectives than what the teacher originally envisioned. It is even possible that new information may put the previously correct answer into question. This is how the modern interconnected world works and we are making sure our students are prepared for this information-rich environment.
